Rocket Launch-Task Starter - Professional Version

Build Executive Functioning Skills with this multi-faceted Behavioral Program

Teaching ADHD kids executive functioning skills can be a challenge, but the Rocket Launch app comes at the problem from multiple dimensions.  It begins with an arcade style game where players have to dodge Asteroid Distractions to get to planet Task Land. Then there are four mindfulness exercises that kids can practice, helping them learn to focus and pay attention. But the heart of the app is the Mission Worksheet. Once a mission (homework, schoolwork, chore) is chosen, you print it out and have the child fill it out while they are doing their task. The worksheet helps them anticipate distractions, gather the things they need to complete the task, and then evaluate their progress. The points they earn for their efforts are then added to the app. Every aspect of the app presents an opportunity for children to earn points to get a reward, selected by an adult, but chosen at random by the child using a Reward Wheel. The Professional Version comes with codes so that the app can be assigned with up to 10 children. The app can be used in your office (there will be a different app for each child), or assigned for use at home or in the classroom.

 how it works

Kids with ADHD and focus challenges can be a lot like rockets. They often blast off with energy, excitement, and big ideas — but without the right guidance system, it’s easy to lose direction, drift off course, or run out of fuel before the mission is complete.  That’s where Rock Launch Task Starter comes in. This fun and engaging app helps kids build the skills to start tasks, stay focused, and successfully “land” by finishing what they begin. Just like a real rocket needs navigation, a mission plan, and a safe re-entry system, kids need simple tools and encouragement to guide them from launch to completion.

1

Motivate Kids to Learn New Behavior

Rocket Launch is more than conventional app, but rather it is a behavioral management system. The adult sets a point goal and possible rewards and the child earns points through daily achievement.

2

Identify Distractions

Children are asked to identify the things that typically distract them, and these become Distraction Asteroids in the arcade game. They are also asked how they can deal with each distraction in real life and their plan can then be printed out.

3

Kids Play the Video Game and Earn Points by Their Rocket to planet Task Land.

The video game keeps kids interested in the overall behavior program. Most children love to play video games, and this allows the show off their skills while earning points.

Missions Make the Difference

With consistent use, your gut becomes more stable, better at handling stress, and more efficient at absorbing nutrients—helping you feel lighter, more energized, and in control every day.

It All Starts with Increasing Motivation

The adult sets the points needed to get a reward, and they choose the type of rewards in settings. Kids respond best to randomized rewards, so we've included a Rewards Wheel for them to spin and set their prize. Kids win rewards by playing the Rocket Launch Game, practicing Brain Games (mindfulness techniques), and, most importantly, completing tasks in the real world.

The Rocket Launch Game

Kids love games, so we decided to make an arcade-style game to help children think about how to deal with the situations that distract them. The game challenges kids to get to Planet Task while dodging or shooting Asteroids of Distraction. When they reach the planet without being hit by an asteroid they start their journey of earning points.

"Brain Games" Can Help Kids with Emotional Regulation

A number of research studies have shown that mindfulness exercises can help ADHD kids with emotional regulation, increased attention, and impulsivity.  They are most effective when they are movement-based, short (3 to 5 minutes), sensory-oriented, and gamified. Rocket Launch suggests five games based on these principles, and adults can rate the enjoyment level of the child and the perceived effectiveness of each game. Kids get 25 points just for trying each exercise so they are usually ready to give them a try!

Real Life Change Through Task-Focused Missions

Change must happen in the real-world, and that's what we have integrated in Rocket Launch. To progress in the "game," children go on real-life missions to earn points. The superivising adult will print out a Missiion Checklist, which
